Notes:
P/S-F series 20, build 51 "Thunderbird" is the Terrans' heavy assault fighter. Usually, any type of fighters got replaced with its successor every 30 or 35 years. However, Thunderbirds have become the mainstay of Terran Forces as heavy assault fighters for three generation of successions. At the early sorties, because of poor agility and speed of the Thunderbird, Terran pilots has misjudged Thunderbirds as Bombers, but at the hands of experienced, and thunderbird-adapted fighter pilots, they could even take on "Main Space Superiority" class Fighters and emerged victorious.

----------------------------------------------

In the world of AF universe, One Thunderbird construction takes time around 3 months of AF Universe time to complete, but in the Real World time, it only takes three days to complete the original model and could be mass produced with clone command. 200 ship in one click, which takes about 100 miliseconds, and some minutes for the processor to work.

Never thought I'd find something like this sci-fi wise while searching 'thunderbird' here. Honestly I was looking for native american tb works for a concept of an character I'm working for a smallville group, a Thanagarian with weather control powers, who uses Thunderbird as his moniker, the alien raised by humans [native americans to be precise].
I like your fighter design though, I run a not so canonical post return of the jedi star wars group myself and we're working on including Earth in the main story, but so far away, travel between earth and the main galactic setting is next to impossible with the star wars tech. However if the Terrans do get discovered, I thought they shouldn't be so primitive either. This craft looks like something Terrans would build in a Star Wars setting, light speed capable or not, this badass fighters could still certainly repel an imperial force attacking Terran Space, we do have the Imperial Remnant in my group, which still pose a significant threat to the restored Republic, one idea is that Terrans could possibly carry some sort of weight, that whichever side they take is almost sure to win. It looks like a cross between Klingon Vorcha Class Battlecruiser from Star Trek Deep Space Nine and some super advanced fighter out of the Ace Combat games, with colors like the Republic Y-wing Bombers from Star Wars Clone Wars, all paragons of badassery in their respective universe by the way, all wrapped up and rolled into this craft that sure lives up to its name.

That's quite nice insight you have there :) I sketched a few initial design of this fighter by doodles though, must be coincidence to have that mixture of paragons of badasses :D I might just've been lucky. Those groups you're talking before, is it some kind of text base roleplaying? I've been in that web RP-ing once.

yes it is, Yahoo groups, been in there since it was egroups. I have both an alternate revenge of the sith one and a post return of the jedi one, where its close to ten years since the ROTJ events, where we make it up as we go along from there. I never took up SWU, TOR, or games like Everquest and WoW, too dangerously addictive to me, just one play, and I may have ended up like certain players who lost touch with reality.

True, online games are addictive, it's not the gameplay that makes addiction but the communities. I played an online game for 1 year back then, fortunately I'm able to pull myself out from the game.

If I do introduce earth in either of my star wars groups, I'd like to link the groups to your work?

Thanks.

Greeble texture? I just used a mixture of two textures, bump mappings, and specular level. You could call it simple procedural textures.

Do you draw these on paper first, or just throw it all in 3D...?

The ships are awesome...

Thanks :)

For these kind of things, I must draw first, but I don't draw it with the details, usually I just draw the main / major parts, and I'm doing the minor / details part without drawing.

I should probably start doing that...
I go to make something with no forethought or planning...
And i give it up pretty quick coz i dont know where i wanna take it...

...and worse you could stop halfway because you don't know what else to do with the model. Happens to me in the past. After that I learned from other experts that drawing blueprints are necessary to make one solid good modeling.

After you finished planning the next one, there's another problem's going on. It's like "when I'm going to start it?" for me, mostly, after finished drawing / planning, I often slack off for a while, telling myself, "I'm gonna do it after this", and then I forgot... when I realize it, I'm already slacking for a week.

It's an arcade style shooting game, similar like Strikers 1945, Raiden, etc.

Thanks for the comment, I'm sure if you keep learning and keep practicing, that someday will eventually come. Only time will tell.

I don't know which ship I like better. This one or the Diamondjack.. Hmm.. both are wicked! :D

XD

Thunderbirds features heavy armor and weaponry, while Diamondjacks features speed and stealth. But personally, I liked diamondjacks because they are smaller and thinner, like razor sharp blades, and of course their wings are special, they change color when hit by specular lightings.
